Kind of true. There is definitely a shift in the PC game space ever since the success of Everquest and WoW. A lot less companies making good rpgs that actually tell a story. More and more companies just follow the cookie cutter trend and make MMORPGs that involve exp grind or gear grind. => Boring games.

I do sometimes list improvement ideas but seldom complain. If I can't figure out how it is done and none of my guildies can either, Ill wait till someone does. I really like gw alot and will play it for a long time to come. I have however started to leave my local and trade channels off because I seldom need to interact with players outside my alliance and it seems that they are the people that caused me the most grief/irritation.

frodo7, if you look at most mmo forums, maybe all, you will find hordes of complaint threads. The forums do not really reflect the game experience.

I think that if you only concentrate on the negative (hey, this glass is only 3/4 full) then you will miss the positive (which is that you have plenty to drink).

I have put down GW a lil bit. I do get on occasionally and enjoy playing with friends.

IMO, i feel GW is a part of me. Sounds lame, but all the time i spent, all the enjoyment i had, the cool characters i created all came from me. Its to hard for me to let it go. I still learch around these forums because i feel i might see something new that might spark an interest to play GW alot again. This forum basically gets all the news and gossip before it ever comes public on the game or the actual homepage of GW.

I think it was a great time for them to start developing GW2. Playing through the same campaigns over and over is really hard for me to do. Beating the campaign once is really enough for me. But what i really like about GW is the linear story. Reskinning alot of things like weapons and armor in GWEN kinda left me unmotivated, no goal to shoot for. I am not a title guy. I enjoy gaining levels, getting leet looking armor, cool looking weapons, playing with friends and thats about it.

I am actually waiting for the next big MMO to come along to sweep me off my feet and give me something new to do.

i really agree wid you on this anet is really lacking imho they havent made any real good updates lately and they should have worked more on gwen instead of throwing a crap campaign together just to hold peopel over untill guild wars 2 wich will probly be as bad as gwen

I am definitly not one of them complainer thread mongers...

But, here is why i keep playing::

- GW is still the most creative MMO(-like) game out there
- GW has STILL has some of the most gourgoes graphics in gaming.
- GW has an incredibly extensive amount of playable combinations via the massive amount of available skills
- GW is incredibly easy to pick up and put down, attractive to casual players
- GW rewards and incentives are not imbalanced for PvP or PvE, therefore casual players have no need to worry of being "Pwnt" all the time
- Last but not least, my GW friends. I have been with the same guild for over 2 years now, and have become pretty good friends with so many. My GW community (my guild) is a huge part of why i enjoy this game.

Overall, GW is in fact one of the MOST stable online games i have ever played. Despite constant nerfs/buffs/re-balances/updates and additional chapters, the game core has remained stable for over 2 years now. Yes, the game creators have changed what most of us veteran players ones knew, but even then, we must realize how solid this game has been for us all this time...

I still love to play GW, its simply enjoyable.
cheers!

Because about 3% of the overall population complain about the game.

If you notice, almost all of the whiners are the same people.

Because i love the game and dont care about all the negative comments that are posted on this forum when a new feature is live.

I regard gw as an solo mmo, really the community for the most part is kinda rude, pugging has been dead ever since heroes made their way in and many people dont have anything else to do than just to complain about a new update.

Still i love it, i just hit the 2000 hour mark and im still going strong, and for one thing im not obsessed with getting all the titles because in the end its just a thickbox you can use to enable your o so awesome title to be displayed to everyone.

Ah well i think ill just load up the game and have another round at killing/running/drinking/laughing at silly armor combinations and so on.

i still play because i enjoy it. sounds simple enough, yes?

yeah sometimes it feels repetitive but after 2 1/2 years, what game isn't? there is always something to do, or someone that needs help doing something else. i consider my guildies good friends, and i enjoy playing and "hanging out" so to speak, with them. i love buying a new set of armor. i like working towards getting different titles. i love my epeen- er hall of monuments :P and because i've enjoyed the game so much thus far, i'm looking forward to gw2.

does that answer the question?

Wow, what I do not hear are the complainers explaining why they still play the game. There were a couple of people saying "yeah, the game has flaws and they should be pointed out", but there is a big difference between the "grinding suxx0rz" thread and the thread that helps the devs discover potential imbalances and exploits. I think the complainers are few and far between, but as soon as they see a thread that that they agree with they come out en masse. I believe the majority of people are sensible and do things they enjoy doing...which means they don't have much to complain about and might not have much to say in general. This means forums get dominated by negative comments. But 50 negative comments out of thousands of gwg users hardly constitutes a large number. Most of us have fun =D

Well, since some of the biggest moaners have admitted they no longer play the game I must conclude that bitching on forums is an stand alone activity aswell in some cases. Some people just like to b*tch whether they play the game or not...

I keep playing because I love the world that ArenaNet created with Guild Wars and its expansion packs. Another thing I like is to develop my character by reching titles and other achievements, although this can be hard or boring/repetitive sometimes. But after playing for more than 2000 hours there is still a lot to do. I'm a late starter, my main character just got it's first birthday present. I still have to conquer high-end area's like FoW, Underworld, Factions elite missions and the Domain of Anguish.

But I also may take a break, there are more good games out there, and my Unreal server needs attention as well.
